The American Children's Painting Competition (ACPC) is held every two years by Asian Cultural Center, International Center at Princeton University, Asian American Cultural Center at Rutgers University and New England Museum for Contemporary Art. The 2006 ACPC will focus on the theme "Our Life, Our Community".
By organizing this year's ACPC, Asian Cultural Center would like to provide children all through the country with an opportunity to pay attention to their life and local community. At the same time, the ACC hopes that children's paintings would inspire adults to take proactive actions for the imminent environmental and educational problems.
All children in North American from 3 to 18 years of age may take part in this Competition. Each participant competes with one item of work, whereas institutions and associations may send total. Picture of building
Entries must reach the ACC NJ office by April 20th 2006 at the latest.

Children who will be between the age of 3 and 18 years by April 20th, 2006.

Invitation Letter from the Committee of 2006 American Children's Painting Competition

Dear parents and all the lovely contestants,

I would like to invite you as an honored guest for the 2006 American Children’s Painting Competition (ACPC) Award Ceremony sponsored by Asian Cultural Center, Asian American Cultural Center of Rutgers University, International Center of Princeton University, and the New England Center for Contemporary Art.
This year’s theme is “Our Life, Our Community” and it is my pleasure to announce that there were more than 500 submissions from participants from China, India, Korea, and Europe and all through the America between the ages of 3 and 18. About 400 winners and contestants, along with their friends and family, are invited to the awards ceremony on Saturday, May 20th, 2006. The ceremony will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Busch Campus Center – Rutgers University. The center is located at 604 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
All attendants will have the opportunity to view the submitted art works, enjoy the refreshments, and interact with each other. I anticipate your arrival and look forward to talk to you at this award ceremony. 新的生活美的世界——2006“新美杯”北美青少年绘画艺术大奖赛评选揭晓

　　由美国亚洲文化中心、普林斯顿大学国际中心、若歌大学亚美文化中心、新英格兰艺术博物馆联合主办的2006“新美杯”北美青少年绘画艺术大獎赛于5月20日下午在若歌大学（Rutgers University）举行了颁獎典礼。包括主办单位及赞助机构的代表、社区文化名流、大赛评委、参赛小选手及其家长及老师共300余人参加了当日的活动。
　　约130余幅作品从来自北美各地、欧洲及中国小选手的逾600幅参赛作品中胜出，分别获得一、二、三等獎。颁獎仪式为获獎选手们颁发了獎状、獎杯及丰厚的獎品。来自张原武术学校、华夏杨洪光老师带领的舞蹈队的小演员们以及印度小朋友还为颁獎仪式送上了精彩的武术节目与舞蹈表演。
　　本次大赛由新美贷款银行冠名赞助，由Hills Gallery、胡知宇律师楼及大都会保险与理财的李椿特别赞助，并得到华夏中文学校、纽泽西美术学院、皇后画院、红黄蓝美术学校、小鱼画室、海伦画室、卢丹画室、Boys' Club、Children's expression through arts、Hunterdon county vocational school以及Academy“21st century”等组织的热情支持。
　　大赛收到了孩子们创作的油画、水彩画、丙烯画、水墨画、素描、电脑绘画等多种绘画作品。其中3-8岁幼儿组近300幅，9-12岁少儿组近200幅，13岁以上组100余幅。参赛作品整体水平之高，令专家评委感到惊讶。
　　评委们指出，根据不同的年龄组，评判的标准各有侧重。比如幼儿组的评选，就著重考察孩子们的想象力和观察视野，因为3-8岁这个阶段的孩子想象力非常丰富，自我表达意识也比较强，在色彩选用上没有约束；而少儿组的孩子大都经过一段时间的绘画训练，在绘画的技巧、构图、色彩等多方面都有一定的基本功，因此对他们的要求会更加全面；对于13岁以上孩子的参赛作品，评委们的要求则以技巧为主，同时注意中国文化的内涵与西方文化的融合。
　　在谈到对参赛作品的总体感觉时评委们表示，通过这些参赛作品，可以看到一个事实：绘画老师把自己广泛的绘画背景、多样的技巧、灵活的构图方法都传授给了学生，这是一件好事。但有些孩子过于偏重模仿，使得其作品中明显带有老师的痕迹，如此的绘画学习则太过保守，学生应该在老师的指点下，学习多样的风格，打下扎实的基本功，然后发挥自己的艺术想像力，这样，才能够创作出更加杰出的作品。
　　评委表示，不管以后是否成为艺术家，绘画是对人内心世界的一种表述，是对生活的一种体验，丰富的童年生活，可以给孩子的一生带来影响。
　　以“新的生活，美的世界”为主题的2006“新美杯”北美青少年绘画艺术大獎赛评选工作目前已经告一段落。所有获獎作品将于5月22日至30日在位于爱迪生市的新泽西亚文中心、7月17至29日在纽约亚文中心，9月11日至22日在若歌大学先后展出。
　　此外，大赛组委会还将把本次大獎赛的获獎作品印制成册，记录下参赛小画家们在成长之路上留下的这一十分富有意义的经历。
