BALLET FOR KIDS

 

The art of ballet is more than standing on your toes, ballet is

grace, strength, musicality, and self-expression. In a ballet class,

you will build core strength, long and lean muscles, flexibility,

coordination, control, balance, and the ability to leap through the air.

 

When: Saturdays 12:00-1:00pm (Beginners)

                            1:00pm-2:00pm (Advanced)

 

Cost: Members 150.00 (TBD)

 

Emily Holder has a degree in dance from the University of Washington and also studied at Edna Manley School of Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica, and University of Legon in Accra, Ghana.  She has performed nationally and internationally including as a principal dancer of the Oregon Coast Ballet Company, a Co-Founder of Breaking Ground Dance Company, and Co- Director of Soundance.  She has performed and choreographed for artists such as Ryan Link, People’s Rhythm Party, Land of Mu, and Jovino Santos Neto. 

 

Beginning Ballet: For children and teens with no or very little prior experience 

Beginning Ballet will teach the fundamentals of ballet: 

  • Basic positions and vocabulary
  • Correct placement of the body. 
  • Barer and center work

 

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet: For children and teens with some experience 

This class is for you if you have already learned the basics and are looking to improve your technique, get back in shape after time away from class, or continue your training as a professional dancer. 

  • Dynamics of movement
  • Musicality
  • Anatomically correct alignment to help
  • Barre and center practice in adagio, waltz, turns, and jumps.
