Hope for World Peace: An International Art Show

You are cordially invited to attend the opening reception of Hope for World Peace: An International Art Show at the Asian Cultural Center on September 27, 2005, at 4:30 P.M. 

The Global Artist League was formed in 1999 to promote exchanges in arts, world peace, mutual understanding between the east and the west, and to further develop Sino-American friendship. Since the formation of the league, it has undergone rapid development. It has so far set up branches in thirteen countries and areas over the world, and has become “global” in its true sense. 

Since 1999, the League has successfully organized several influential exhibitions and competitions, to name a few, the 1999 International Competition for Senior House Projects, which attracted architects from 11 countries and areas, the 2000-2001 Demonstrations and Protests for the Rights of Artists, which led to the adding of “the arrest of an artist is prohibited” to The First Amendment of The Constitution, the Serial Show of Oil Paintings in Commemoration of 9.11” at the Javits Center, the 2004 Fund-Raising Art Show to Aid South Asia Tsunami Victims, (The funds raised was donated to the United Nations.), and The 2004 Chinese Elite Artists Show at the Empire Building in Manhattan on the National Day of the USA. 

2005 is a year of two significant events: the 60th anniversary of both the United Nations and the victory in fighting fascism. The Global Artist League together with The Asian Cultural Center will organize and host a grand art show of well-known and influential artists Hope for World Peace: an International Art Show to promote peace and stability and to fight for freedom and universal love. Artists all over the world will be invited. Those who have responded include well-known names in the art circles, such as Yao Jicheng, Xia Baoyuan, Q. X. The Following is Chinese Vision:

    全球艺术家联盟以促进世界艺术交流和全球和平，增进东西方之间的了解和中美友谊的目标，成立数年来，在全球范围内迅速发展，全球有十三个国家和地区有分部，自一九九九年成立以来在美东和纽约地区多次主办了各种美术展览和竞赛。诸如九九年下旬举办的十一国参赛的老年公寓建筑设计竞赛；二零零年、二零零一年在美国多次为争取艺术家合法权利而组织的相关示威抗议活动，争取到美国联邦宪法的第一修正案立注上“严禁逮捕艺术家的条款”。九一一发生后，在纽约贾维斯中心举办了九一一油画系列展以及相关的反恐宣传。艺术家联盟还组织了美东大地区艺术家各种大型的美术作品展，为东南亚海啸举办赈灾义卖活动，将所有义卖收入捐赠给联合国；为促进东西方文化交流，二零零四年七月四日美国国庆之际，在纽约的帝国大厦举办“二零零四年纽约华人艺术精英展”。

    值此联合国成立六十年（花甲）周年和世界反法西斯胜利六十周年之际、为了弘扬和宣传和平自由、反对战争与恐怖活动，我们全球艺术家联盟发动了美东地区的艺术家以及代表其他国家和地区的众多有影响的艺术家与纽约亚洲文化中心联合举办“世界和平之光”美术作品大联展。展出地点在东15号40街，在曼哈顿五大道和麦迪逊大道之间，二零零五年九月二十七日开幕。这是全球艺术家联盟继去年在帝国大厦举办的“二零零四年纽约华人精英展”之后的又一次大型联展，是美东地区艺术家展示优秀作品、艺术价值和体现各族裔艺术家不同风格的美术作品、弘扬世界和平、歌颂自由博爱的空前盛会。参加此次活动的艺术家有：姚继成、夏葆元、王庆祥、杨克山、钟耕略、蔡楚夫、王征骅、陈丹青、一墨、娄德平、胡一平、徐英培、吴君硕、姜国芳、陈幼白、陈秋白、忻英士、金健康、魏宗谦、严建明、童节、徐进、亚圣、李东明、薛建新、王海燕、杨志富、夕阳、张国华、刘毕华、雷鸣、冯英、周勤、王玲、张丽、邓振荣、陈朝晖、刘杰平、张文彬、韩裴、汤德新、揭湘源、倪耕学、张桃英、赵全州、黄怡雯(台湾)、陈镝、庞学林、方科、杨霖、吴波、李雄丁、李昆、张宏、赵雄杰、黄思陶、李兆银、张鹏野、高木真弓（日本）、韦佳、李琴、Fedele Spadatora(意大利)、毕萌等。
