International
acclaimed Chinese Painting master Qi Zhao Shen was born on March 29 1935 in
Shanghai. His father Yi Qian Shen was the then famous patriotic painter in the
30＊s. Mr. Shen is the founder of modern Chinese painting (combination of Chinese
painting & western painting); he is recognized as No. 1 in sketching. Mr.
Shen was appraised as excellent as master Beihong Xu in painting horses. Mr.
Shen＊s painting of horses is the No.1 horse in painting.
Under the
influence of his family, master Shen begun to learn painting at the age 2. At
age 6, he was recognized as prodigy. At the age of 13, he competed in the
national painting exhibition. Master Qizhao Shen specialized in painting
※boneless painting of black horses§ which is considered the most difficult
technique in Chinese Painting. In painting black horses, Mr. Shen has a few very
unique skills that are without rival: huge, vivid and powerful. The biggest
black horse Mr. Shen painted is as big as about 2 kilometer and 3 kilometer,
enormous and alive. The powerful representation Mr. Shen made for the painting
of black horses has no other painters ever could rival.
In June 1979,
the Ming newspaper of Hong Kong published master Shen＊s ※Painting of Group
Horses§ which is 12 kilometers in length and contained one hundred and fifty
horses in various poses in 5 pages. The famous Chinese painter Shi Cheng gave it
high valuation and this painting drew attentions worldwide.
In 1988,
master Qi Zhao Shen held many large-scale painting exhibitions in Singapore and
Thai. He won acclaims in an international level.
In 1990, master Qi Zhao
Shen moved to German where he held many exhibitions throughout cities,
universities and banks and he also held exhibitions in Switzerland. He was
recognized and valued high in Europe.
Master Shen presented his
paintings to former President of the United States, Mr. & Mrs. Clinton many
times and was gaineded high acclaims from them. Mr. & Mrs. Clinton wrote to
Mr. Shen many times to thank him for his paintings.
In July 2005, new
Pope himself met master Shen in person at the basilica of the Vatican City in
Italy during the world gathering of Catholic. Master Shen painted a huge black
horse called ※invincible§ for the new Pope. The new Pope was amazed and joyful.
He valued that this black horse has the spirit of health, brave and
aggressiveness. At the moment the whole basilica applauded for master Shen and
his black horse. This painting was then named ※Horse of Pope§. From then on,
master Shen＊s painting of black horse became valueless.
In November
2005, master Shen held a painting exhibition in New York, which won him numerous
commendations. The notable writer Dingju Wang commented on World Journal: Qi
Zhao Shen＊s black horse reflected Shen＊s unease feeling in his heart which
totaled all his past hardship, experience and good wishes. This unease feeling
should be the motivation and character of his art. This is why he is so unique.§
And the others believed that Mr. Shen＊s painting bear the quality that is worth
of being collected by the museum.
In the February 2006 ※Bi An§ magazine,
writer Ping Dong published an article to introduce Mr. Shen＊s story, which
titled as ※Dancing with Horses§. This article brought many good comments about
Mr. Shen in the United States. Many other magazines followed to publish articles
about Mr. Shen and his painting.
In February 2006, Mr. Shen flied from
German to the United States to prepare his painting exhibition which be held in
Manhattan. This exhibition will be the biggest exhibition he ever had and many
of his best quality paintings will be showed during this exhibition.
In
the evening of March 24, 2006, Senator Hilary Clinton of New York State attended
※New York Asian Interaction Meeting§. After Senator Hilary＊s address, Mr. Shen
presented his painting to the Senator on the stage. Both of them were happy to
meet each other therefore they took pictures together. Mr. Shen mentioned to
Senator that he once presented his paintings to her and her husband Mr. Clinton
in Germany and he kept in contacted with them by mail for over ten years.
Senator Hilary indicated that she likes the painting a lot and she wouldn＊t
forget Mr. Shen. Mr. Shen invited her to attend his art show in New York City;
Senator Hilary gladly accepted it.
Master Shen＊s painting characterized
as smooth, positive and aggressiveness. His paintings not only has the
conservative side of the Chinese culture but also bears the character of western
culture. As said by Pope, Shen＊s painting is healthy, brave and aggressive.
Master Shen is just like his black horse, dashing to break the dark and
bring the happiness, love and light to the world.
