写真中国纪录片回顾展

2006年度“写真中国”双年展今年底将会在全美各大学和文化机构陆续推出。亚洲文化中心也将于今年9月和10月在纽约和新泽西两地同时展映。为了让广大电影爱好者能够对本次纪录片展有一个预先的认识和了解，莱克基金会和亚洲文化中心特别精选了2004年记录片展的部分优秀影片举行回顾展。本次回顾展将于6月22日起，每周四晚上7时在位于新泽西州Edison的亚洲文化中心放映，为期8周。订座电话：732-287-5598。本次回顾展所有影片均配有英文字幕。所有电影均免费欣赏。

江 寧《老楊找對象》；76min，DV，2003 《 Old Yang Seeking Wife 》
上海是中國最早進入人口老令化的城市，2003年，上海戶籍人口中60歲以上的老年人口已達254萬6700人，占上海戶籍總人口的l8．98‰，而其中百分之二十以上是孤、寡、單身。孤獨成為老人最大的問題。 本片的主角老楊是上海一個普通的單身老人，他開朗、有趣、又帶一些幽默。但他一直過著寂寞的生活而又不甘心寂寞。本片生動地紀錄了老楊找對象的心理過程，以及中國城市老人的生活狀況。老楊要找的對象只是希望能陪伴他共度晚年、分亨喜憂。但他始終末能如願。
Old Yang Seeking Wife
Shanghai is among the first cities in China to have a problem with an ageing population. By the end of 2001, the number of senior citizens in Shanghai had exceeded 2.466 million, amounting to 20 % of total population. Of the roughly 2.5 million senior citizens, about 980,000 were single and more than 20 % of these senior singles wanted to seek companions. This film’s story follows a group of senior citizens in Shanghai. The protagonist of the story, Old Yang, is an ordinary single old man. This documentary film tells Old Yang’s story in seeking a wife, and in doing so it depicts the reality of growing old in urban China. The story provides us insight into the lives of senior citizens in China.

威海路20號
《威海路20號》，記敍了在人民廣場標誌性建築———現代化的大劇院旁，還住著過去靠為跑馬廳養馬、守著跑馬廳過日子的20戶人家。50年前的歷史，仍在他們的生活中留下印跡。
20 Weihai Road, Shanghai
Near the Northwest corner of the People’s Square in Shanghai there remains a vestige of a stable built by the British in the beginning of the 20th century. This film focuses on the lives of the people who reside in the stable over the course of the century, and through this traces the major events occurring in Shanghai and their impact on its people’s lives. The film explores the evolution of the People’s Square, which has been center stage for Shanghai’s major events for many years. This documentary contains rare footage of early 20th century British lives in Shanghai.

李曉《廠長張黎明》；36min/dv/2000; 《 Director of Factory 》
該片講述了上海一家曾經著名的國有企業在改革開放的時代終於倒閉的故事。張黎明接手做廠長的時候，該廠已經負債累累,產品找不到市場而停產，車間空蕩蕩一片,工人拿不到工資生活沒有著落。張黎明把工人們組織起來,鼓動起來，工廠又開始運轉了,車間的爐火生起來了。他則焦頭爛額地奔走在各種債權人之間，和各種經銷商之間。但是在最後，債務的壓力太大，工廠終於還是垮掉了，在廠房被炸平的硝煙中，片子結束。
The Director of A Factory
A fairly well-known state-owned factory in Shanghai has already run up huge debts when new director Mr. Zhang Liming takes over. The factory’s losses are such that the factory is essentially worthless, and it can’t afford to pay most workers for a long time. However, Zhang is determined to improve things. He reorganizes the work of the factory; he starts the machines again; he negotiates with creditors and finds new ways to boost sales. But in the end his turn-around efforts are all in vain as the story ends with the factory burning to the ground.

《群眾演員》是一群來自全國各地，聚在北京電影製片廠門前，等著某個劇組來挑臨時演員的人們。本片描述了一群年輕人，宣稱自己是電影的臨時演員，但卻整日在電影廠門前消磨時光，然後回到租住的小屋裏整夜的開著黃色玩笑，玩牌，看著無聊的錄影。李文博，包和華和王剛，三個人做著明星夢，夢想成為百萬富翁，但每次卻不得不擔心自己的下一頓和下一次房租。他們在赤裸的現實面前完全沉淪了Walk-on Roles

There are a gang of urban young loafers. They proclaim themselves as movie walk-on roles, but always kill time before the gate of Beijing Film Studio. Then they go back to their rented shabby cabin on the outskirts, spending whole nights flirting naive girls with filthy jokes, playing cards or watching blue video. Li Wenbo, Bao Hehua and Wang Gang are inclined to dreaming of success of their movies and millions of dollars. But everytime when they give a thought about their next meal or their rent, they sink into the stark reality.

《请不要管我》是讲述一个南方城市三个妓女的故事。叶和她的妹妹杨都在一个卡拉OK夜总会工作。她们的朋友Massagal则是一个发廊的按摩女郎。当然这是一个男性顾客经常光顾却很少有人真正理发的那种发廊。今日的社会，这种女孩自然是被轻视或被视为自甘堕落的，也很少有人真正关心她们的生活和未来…
Let Me Alone
This is a story about three young prostitutes in a southern city. Ye and her sister Yang work in a karaoke night club. Their friend Massagal is a massage girl in a barber shop which is frequented by male customers very few of which are there for a haircut. In today’s society, girls like these are despised and abandoned; very few really care about their lives and their future.

《DV 中國》導演：鄭大聖 92min，2003 《 DV China 》
周元強，4８歲，中國江西省景德鎮市竟成鎮文化站站長，出於“群眾文化群眾辦”的宗旨，自1993至今，組織鄉民自製電視劇18部30餘集，故事多取材於本鄉本土的紅軍事蹟。自發而有組織，且成規模，這是中國民間DV創作的一個特例，從他身上可以看到很多“中國特色”。周站長使用SONY Hi8家用攝像機和VHS錄影機進行製作，刻錄成CD-R在群眾中流傳，從不做商業發售或在公共媒體上播放。他自籌資金，自編自導自攝，在家中完成剪輯與混音，獨力研製特技視覺效果，雖然沒有任何專業訓練的背景，但蒙太奇思維驚人的成熟。鄉人自娛自樂，10年來共計有2000餘人次參與演出。2002年春，他帶領文化站開拍新戲《血海深仇》，首次嘗試武俠片的攝製。DV 中國是一部故事片長度的紀錄片，使用2台SONY PD-150，對周站長的拍攝進行了60天的跟蹤紀錄，積累了120多小時的素材，費時12個月始完成剪輯。是鄭大聖的第一部紀錄片創作。
DV China
Since the early 1990s, the locals in the town of Jindezheng, Jianxi, led by Zhou Yuanqiang the creative director of the local cultural center, have learned all the techniques of film production: script writing, casting, shooting, montage and even special effects. They have produced 18 serials though they lack equipment and are short of money. The energetic director Zhou Yuanqiang initiates a new challenge for his enthusiastic and amateur actors: to produce their first Kung-fu serial. This documentary follows the production of this new serial and the difficulty of fund raising, the resolution of technical problems, and the challenging dynamics of their interpersonal relationships.

趙 剛《冬日》76min，2002 《 The Sun in The Winter 》
本片以四川一個村莊的村委會選舉為個案，通過長達三年田野考察般的觀察與紀錄，以點帶面地折射出今日中國農民在特定的政治、經濟和文化環境中所經歷的民主自治過程。

魏星《學生村》100min，2002 《 A Student’s Village 》
在中國雲南西北部的橫斷山脈深處，有一個特殊的村落——學生村。這是一個有著近五十年歷史、延續了好幾代人，如今已有80多所小木屋，260多名孩子居住在這裏學習、生活的村落。本片拍攝歷時一年，記錄了學生村的孩子、家長和老師的生活和故事，反映了當今中國偏遠貧困山區的人們奮發向上積極進取的精神。
該片在首屆“雲之南人類學影像展”上獲評委會特別獎，評委會的評語為：該片觸及了中國鄉村教育的重大社會問題。與其說是講述了貧困，不如說是面對貧困堅忍不拔的樂觀與奮發的精神。背景厚重，剪輯流暢。創作者對被拍攝者的情感投入也是該片成功的因素。
A Student’s Village
In a remote mountainous area of northwestern Yunnan lies a small ‘Student Village’ built by local people to allow their children to attend school. Students live near the school, studying, cooking and looking after themselves, so that they do not have to travel impossibly long distances from isolated locations to school every day. This piece portrays the determination and energy of the locals in ensuring their youth receive a good education.

從安徽農村進入北京打工的打工妹，她們的經歷，她們對愛情的理解，為了尊嚴而進行的掙扎。本片以一個城市女性的視角面對這些與她生活背景完全不同的女性，紀錄了發現她們，走近她們，理解她們情感世界的過程。
Out of The Phoenix Bridge
Four girls from the countryside live in a tiny crammed room in Beijing. Long hours of hard work and miserable living conditions turn out to be the happiest years of their lives as this is when they enjoy the most personal freedom. The prize-winning film follows the rising and falling of their hopes and dreams as they reluctantly return to the closed world of their hometowns and traditional marriages.

2006當代中國紀錄片雙年展

The Reel China Documentary Biennial is an independent film festival which presents the most outstanding contemporary documentaries produced in China. The festival takes place every two years.

The REC foundation is a non-profit organization founded in New York in 1997 with the purpose of promoting cultural exchange between East and West. Since its founding, the REC Foundation has conducted research on and followed the development of contemporary Chinese documentaries. The Foundation is in contact with documentary filmmakers throughout China and has selected their best and most representative films for this film festival.

Viewers of this series of documentaries can witness the reality of the unfolding of contemporary Chinese history from many perspectives.

作为一个年轻的独立纪录片影展；REEL CHINA Biennial已开始为越来越多的关注中国、研究中国的人们熟悉，不仅仅在美国、自2004年以来她已进入德国、英国、丹麦和意大利。

REEL CHINA 所拥有的当代中国纪录片资源与她选择的纪录片,是引起关注的重要原因；我们收到的咨询与反馈更是来自世界各地。REEL CHINA 所展示的当代中国社会生活的真实画卷是文化交流与文化构通中不可替代的一个环节。作为纪录片的艺术成就也为越来越多的国际纪录片节所关注。第一本海外学者论当代中国纪录片的专集也将在2006年2月由上海文汇出版社出版。

REEL CHINA的视角触及了当代中国社会的方方面面，更是深入了人物的内心世界及人物的心路历程，这是任何文字文献的记载所不能比拟的。要了解一个变化中的中国，本质是了解她变化中的人。REEL CHINA的纪录片正是跟踪记录了变化中的不同阶层的人、环境及人际网络。这是社会细胞的一个个切片，是特定生存状态下的人性原貌。并为我们打开了一些封尘的故事……

本届REEL CHINA Biennial 让我们欣喜地看到一批年青的有才华的纪录片导演正在崛起，他（她）们出生於上世纪七、八十年代，与五、六十年代出生的纪录片人相比，他(她)们的经历与社会文化背景截然不同，本届的不少纪录片让我们领略到从他(她)们眼里看出来的世界。

• 记载中国大陆男同志与女同志真实生活的《美美》与《盒子》，向海外展示了这一族群在中国的不外人知的故事。

• 《高三》与《浩然是谁》让我们看到了中学教育对青少年成长的重要性，这些“好孩子”与“坏孩子”是如何在当下中国的环境中成长的。

• 《白塔》与《夜行人》则是导演历经几载记录的中国残疾人—咙人与盲人的坎坷经历。

• 在《张博士》和田丰(《田丰与他的传习馆》)身上让我们看到了一个人的命运与遭遇与社会环境具有多么密切的关系。

• 《白马四姐妹》与《守护香格里拉》是今日中国环境变迁与市场经济对藏族原住民生活的直接影响。

• 《淹没》与《旅馆》是对三峡工程以后人文生态的素描

REEL CHINA是把当代中国纪录片放在一个国际背景下来审视她的整体水准，从技术、内容到风格逐步建立她的国际地位。

2004當代中國紀錄片雙年展

由紐約萊克基金會（REC F0UNDATl0N）和紐約大學電影系共同主辦的第二屆《REEL CHlNA—當代中國紀錄片雙年展》於2004年10月—11月在紐約、波士頓、洛杉磯隆重舉行。
本屆紀錄片節共推出二十餘部中國大陸新銳導演近年拍攝的新作。通過一系列小人物的命運變遷，從各個角度紀錄了今日中國巨大的變化。讓世界瞭解中國，REEL CHINA就是這樣一個視窗。

這些真實的人物故事，都是導演經過一、二年的跟蹤拍攝才完成的。自2001年首屆REEL CHlNA舉辦以來，在美國五個州的十幾個大學獲得了巨大的反響。萊克基金會是在紐約註冊的一個非贏利機構。多年來主要從事紀錄片項目的策劃、製作、推廣和研討活動。並與美國、歐州的有關機構、大學、圖書館、博物館、文化中心建立了廣泛的聯繫。《REEL CHINA—當代中國紀錄片展播節》每兩年舉辦一次，除在美國展播外、並將有計劃地推向歐州與其他地區。
